AI is here, and it's changing the ground beneath our feet.
The last few decades have seen several tech revolutions – from computers and the internet to mobile phones and social media – that changed the way we live.
AI is as big (or bigger) than any of these. And it’s coming faster. It's the most disruptive technology of our time, both in its power to create good and its potential to wreak havoc.
For entrepreneurs, these are heady times. Opportunity surrounds us – to invent, build, and change the world.
But it's also scary. Nobody knows what the future holds. Concerns —from robots taking jobs to the existential threat of "the singularity" – are real.
You may feel this way. You are not alone. Whether you are a bleeding-edge pioneer or dyed-in-the-wool skeptic, we’re all living through this together.
WHAT CAN WE DO?
Legion M is first and foremost a community. We’d like to address this as one. To begin, we’re hosting a Zoom call next week:

The session will feature a series of guests (Want to present? Click here) sharing stories about how they use AI. A big show-and-tell where we talk about how AI can work like magic ... and how it can fail spectacularly.
All are welcome. If you are an AI enthusiast, come learn from your peers. If you don't know anything about AI… come find a place to start.
Think of it as Legion M’s equivalent to “Dumbledore’s Army.” The strong push each other to get stronger; those with experience teach those who have none.
Together, as a community, we grow – ready to face whatever the future holds.
LEGION M’S POSITION ON AI
As a small company with experience navigating disruption (our first company won an Emmy riding the wave of internet-connected mobile phones), we believe Legion M is positioned to thrive.
Others may see AI as a way to cut, but we see it as a way to grow. In particular, we believe AI can unlock next-generation capabilities in areas like communications, crowdsourcing, marketing, data analysis, operations, and community management.
One thing Legion M hasn’t done is use AI to make movies. Our community (and audiences at large) has made it clear this is problematic. That view may change over time. Or maybe not. As always, our community will be our guide.
In the meantime, the fundamental question of today is not “how can AI make things cheaper by using fewer humans,” but “how can AI unleash human creativity to build things never possible before?”
That’s where we’re focusing our efforts.
