First Look: Let’s Make DEFIANT a Best Seller!

We’ve got an important update to share on one of the most exciting projects we’ve ever taken on: DEFIANT: THE STORY OF ROBERT SMALLS.

After years of development and support from our incredible community, the first volume of the DEFIANT graphic novel is finally complete and we are so happy to report that it turned out even better than we could have imagined.

Those who’ve seen it are calling it a masterpiece. The combination of Robert Smalls’ extraordinary true story, with the poignant and historically accurate writing from Rob Edwards (Captain America: Brave New World, The Princess and the Frog, King of Kings), and the artistic brilliance of the Stranger Comics creative team makes this book something truly special. It’s not just gorgeous to look at, it’s a compelling and emotional read that feels both timeless and urgent.

BIG NEWS ON THE FILM IS COMING

We’ve also got some very exciting developments to share soon about the film project but we’re going to hold off until the ink is dry on all the deals. Trust us, it will be worth the wait and setting up the film at the levels we’re working will be absolutely huge for the book and for Legion M.

THIS IS OUR MOMENT

DEFIANT is the biggest project in Legion M’s history. It was born from a meme, shaped by our community, and now stands as a fully published graphic novel about to be unleashed into the world and a feature film project coming right behind it.

It feels like the very early days of MY DEAD FRIEND ZOE, back before Ed Harris and Morgan Freeman joined the cast — we’re building serious momentum. Turning this book into a bestseller isn’t just a win for this project, it’s a giant leap forward for Legion M and everything we stand for.
