FADE TO BLACK - Post-Production Update
With all the exciting updates around MY DEAD FRIEND ZOE, we didn’t want too much time to pass without giving FADE TO BLACK its well-deserved moment in the spotlight. The film is deep in post-production—and it’s looking absolutely phenomenal!
Our editors have been cranking away and the first director’s cut we watched was already incredibly strong. Since then, we’ve been refining and enhancing with each pass, aiming to make the final version even better.
The VFX team is fully engaged and delivering some stunning work. One especially poignant, VFX-heavy sequence—possibly involving the Hollywood sign—is shaping up to be a cinematic moment for the ages. It’s the kind of scene people will be talking about and referencing for years to come.
Music is also ramping up on two exciting fronts. First, we’re thrilled to share that our music supervisor is none other than Jillian Ennis—known for Maxxxine, Barbarian, Promising Young Woman, Woman of the Hour, and more. We have not announced this publicly, so please help us keep this under wraps for now, but Jillian is on board and working closely with Andrew (our director) and the team to lock in the film’s signature needle drops and sonic vibe.
In parallel, we’re finalizing our composer selection after a ton of very enthusiastic responses from multiple top-tier candidates. Everyone we shared the sizzle and rough cut with wanted to be part of the project. Film scores are having a cultural moment right now (thanks, White Lotus), and this one won’t be just another soundtrack—it will be a bold, emotional exclamation point.
It’s incredible how much buzz the film is generating across town. So much, that there is now a prominent group so fired up about FADE TO BLACK that they want to use it as a showcase: a “best-in-class” case study for how indie films can punch above their weight. We’re talking major studio-level talent for color and sound stepping in, all while staying within our indie budget. It’s a powerful testament to the momentum around this project. Keep your eyes peeled for details on an upcoming panel showcasing FADE TO BLACK as a model for the future of indie filmmaking.
It’s very early but we’ve even had some inbound interest from distributors (including major studios) eager to see what all the fuss is about. We have not screened the film for any buyers yet though. Our full focus right now is getting the best possible cut ready for festivals, with TIFF as our primary target.

More to come soon—stay tuned!
