New Project Announcement: Mary's Monster

What do you think of when you hear the name “Frankenstein?” Does it conjure images of Boris Karloff, arms outstretched with bolts in his neck? Or perhaps Gene Wilder desperately explaining that the name is pronounced “Fronkenstein.” Maybe you think of your dad in a $10 costume scaring the neighborhood kids on Halloween. (Just us?)

MARY’S MONSTER brings us Mary Shelley, Lord Byron and Percy Shelley like you have never seen them before. Couture fashion meets gothic horror as we view their 19th century world through today’s eyes. BAFTA award-winning director Farren Blackburn has signed on to helm this fresh take on the life of Mary Shelley. Farren is considered one of the most exciting UK filmmakers working today. From character driven true stories, YA dramas, psychological thrillers, sci-fi, fantasy and action, he has built a reputation internationally for skillfully traversing genre. Just a few of his notable works include 'Daredevil' (Marvel), the Golden Globe-winning 'Luther,' and 'The Fades' (BBC).

Rose Pictures was founded by New York producer Rose Ganguzza. Known in indie circles as the ‘godmother of emerging filmmakers’, many of Ganguzza’s films have been made by first-time filmmakers, including ‘Afterschool’ (Antonio Campos), ‘Kill Your Darlings’ (John Krokidas), ‘Margin Call’ (J.C. Chandor) and ‘The Guitar’ (Amy Redford).

Heather Greenwood, Senior Executive for James Cordon's Fulwell 73, is a BAFTA-nominated Producer who oversees a whole range of film and broadcast content from initial development & budget negotiations, through production, post, delivery & distribution.

Leo Pearlman is the managing partner of James Cordon's Fulwell 73 group. Previous works include: “Hitsville: The Motown Story” (Showtime), “Training Days” (YouTube), “I am Bolt” (Universal Pictures), “The Class of 92” (Universal Pictures), “Sunderland Till I Die” (Netflix), “Cinderella” (Sony/Columbia) and many more.

Legion M is thrilled to be a part of such a visionary take on a classic story. We can't wait to tell you more about casting and ways to get involved as we move forward.
