A Stellar Conclusion for "William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill" Live Events

Yesterday marked the last of our epic “Rolling Red Carpet” live events for William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill. Unless you were living under a rock (or frustratingly-overcast skies, as the east-coast Legion M team was) you probably couldn’t miss the giant moon-shaped shadow that was cast across the continental USA and every media outlet as well. But if you happened to be in Bloomington, Indiana (specifically in the stadium at Indiana University) your total-eclipse would have been punctuated by none other than the words of William Shatner, accompanied by the IU orchestra. It was the culmination of 5 special events, multiple TV appearances, tons of press, and several parties for our intrepid documentary – and what a ride it’s been.

Our journey began in Richmond VA on Friday, March 15, with an epic red carpet event hosted by GalaxyCon at the historic Byrd Theatre. Two days later we hosted a NYC red carpet premiere at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center with over 1,000 guests and an engaging Q&A with William Shatner, the esteemed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, and the documentary's acclaimed director, Alexandre O. Philippe. The energy in the hall was palpable!

The excitement continued on Wednesday, March 20, in Playa Vista, CA, where we hosted a special advance screening of the documentary with a live Q&A, broadcast to over 300 theaters nationwide. Presented by ScreenRant, this insightful session was hosted by Tamara Krinsky and again featured Bill and Alexandre O. Philippe, providing unique perspectives on the film's creation and themes.

On Thursday, March 21, the spotlight shifted to the Culver Theater in Los Angeles, CA, for another red carpet premiere and unforgettable afterparty. Many of our film's investors had the opportunity to shine on the red carpet before joining over 800 attendees across four theaters for the screening– and William Shatner's personal introductions at each theater were a real treat for all of us. Following the screening we launched headlong into a rock-and-roll fueled afterparty at Culver City Studios. Culver City Studios (formerly the home of Desilu Productions) is home to the soundstage where the original pilot from Star Trek was filmed… and that’s where the party was hosted. This wasn't just any celebration; it marked William Shatner's 93rd birthday, complete with a toast from Kevin Smith, flowing Pantalones Tequila, and delish noms provided by Dave & Busters.

Finally as we alluded to above, the festivities culminated yesterday at Indiana University, where William Shatner delivered an awe-inspiring introduction to the total solar eclipse in Bloomington, IN. Addressing a stadium of approximately 50,000 attendees, Bill cued the eclipse, setting the stage for a sold-out documentary screening later in the day that left everyone in attendance moved and inspired.

As we reflect on these remarkable weeks, we're filled with gratitude for the Legion’s enthusiastic support and participation. These events are not just screenings; they are celebrations of storytelling, community, and of course the ever-inspiring Bill Shatner.
