YCCMB Distribution Update and Shoutout from Alexandre

Director Alexandre O. Philippe, who has traveled to many of the festival stops for William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill, took a moment during the Spanish premiere at the Sitges International Film festival to record a quick shoutout to Legion M and all the investors in the film.

We also just closed out a successful stint at the Newport Beach Film Festival, where we had two showings to packed houses – one of which included a pre-show Q&A with Bill and Jason Alexander.

Our festival strategy for this movie has been pretty simple -- we're focusing on select festivals in different territories to serve as regional premieres. We've been fortunate to receive invitations to some of the most prestigious fests in the world, which has helped us build the reputation for the film in each region.

At the same time, we're working hard to finalize our US release strategy. We had originally hoped to release the movie this fall or winter, but the SAG strike threw a wrench into everything. To be clear – the SAG strike doesn’t affect us directly (as a documentary there are no SAG contracts for this film, and Legion M is not a company SAG is striking against), but Bill has been a member of SAG for over 70 years, and it's important to him that he stands in solidarity with his guild.

At this point we're looking at a likely release next spring. Most documentaries don't get theatrical releases in 2023, but Legion M isn’t like most companies and we're fighting like hell to make one happen for this film. Movies were made to be seen in theaters, and we relish any opportunity we can get to bring our community together, along with the broader community of fans who love Bill, documentaries, and independent film.

So please stay tuned for coming updates. Also, be on the lookout for details on the trailer soon. We've got a couple different options we're planning to release for feedback, and we can't wait to hear what you think!

Onward and Upward!
