First Look: Shatner Doc Trailers!
We couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming release of Legion M’s feature documentary William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill. This film is an important one for Legion M – it’s the first of our “next generation” projects (if you haven’t already, please read BUSINESS UPDATE: LEVELING UP TO A TIPPING POINT FOR LEGION M REVENUE) that have been produced, financed and are owned by Legion M.
One of the most critical parts of releasing a film is developing the trailer. The trailer is arguably the most important two minutes of the entire movie – it’s the “cover” by which everyone decides if they want to read the book. It’s also the most watched two minutes of the film – for every 1 person that watches the movie, there are likely tens, hundreds, or even thousands that watch the trailer.
Legion M is excited to partner with Pool Party Creative to cut the trailer for William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill. Our editor, Doug Jansen is supremely qualified – not only is he Pool Party’s longest tenured editor, but he’s also a multi-round Legion M investor AND an investor in the Shatner Documentary. In fact, our introduction to Pool Party came from Doug, who sent an email to team@legionm.com telling us he was an investor who edited trailers and asking if we needed help on any of our projects. We looked up Pool Party’s work, took a meeting, and fell in love with the team. They submitted a quote (along with two other prospective teams) and won the job. The rest is destined to become cinematic history!
Doug’s been working hard over the last month or two, coordinating directly with the team at Legion M and director Alexandre O. Philippe. We’ve got a couple different variants of that trailer (they are very similar, but there are some critical differences between the two), and NOW IT’S TIME TO GET YOUR FEEDBACK. As always, we want to harness the wisdom, passion, and experience of our community to make the best decisions possible. You own the company after all -- we work for you!
So please take a moment to take the following survey. Note that there are two links - both are identical, but the order of the trailer variants is swapped (to eliminate any bias caused by the order of viewing). PLEASE CLICK ONLY THE LINK THAT APPLIES TO YOU:
Finally, stay on the lookout for an invite coming soon for a development call with Doug and the team at Pool Party Creative. We’re going to discuss the trailer (including results of this poll), and take you behind the scenes and into of the process of creating trailers.
Onward and Upward!
