Legion M Investor News Update March 2018
Legion M roared into March like a lion and there aren’t any lambs in sight! We have a ton of excitement to cover, so let’s get to it!
BAD SAMARITAN
You may have recently heard buzz around our newest production partnership with Hollywood heavyweight Dean Devlin (Independence Day, Stargate, Godzilla, The Patriot, “Leverage,” “The Librarians”) and his production and distribution company Electric Entertainment. Teaming up with Dean is hugeand we’re so pumped to be involved in his first-ever independently produced and distributed psychological thriller Bad Samaritan, starring David Tennant(“Doctor Who,” “Jessica Jones”), Robert Sheehan (Mortal Engines, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, “The Umbrella Academy”), and up-and-coming star Carlito Olvero (“Step Up: High Water,” “East Los High,” “The X Factor”).
Bad Samaritan and the team at Electric Entertainment fit our brand and vision perfectly, which we felt immediately after screening the film for the first time. And while this is a big opportunity to work with one of the most influential creative forces in the industry and some of the fastest rising stars in Hollywood, they are also thrilled to be working with Legion M and our teams came together with astounding energy! A perfect example is when Dean and Carlito recently gave a shout out to the Legion that was cut in front of an official Bad Samaritantrailer featuring the Legion M photo mosaic production logo, which you can watch below.
Bad Samaritan bows nationwide on May 4th (updated from April 27) and there will be a few opportunities for Legion M members to screen the film in select markets ahead of the film’s launch and begin building buzz for Bad Samaritanat meet-ups and via social. Sign up here to be notified of pre-screenings as they come up. One of our first opportunities to support the film happened on March 1 in Long Beach, California where dozens of Legion M members, including some of you from as far away as San Jose and Austin, got a sneak peek of the film, and got the chance to meet with Dean and Carlito!
Dean came away incredibly impressed with Legion M’s turnout and enthusiasm, saying, “It was supposed to be a screening and it turned into a party, but I think it’s always a party when you get the Legion involved!” Check out images from the Long Beach screening as well as film reactions from fellow Legion M members here!
Stay tuned for more details on upcoming Bad Samaritan events and meet-ups. There will be many ways the Legion can get involved in supporting the film and ensuring it’s a huge success all while having a blast at Bad Samaritan meet-ups and screenings, including at fan conventions across the country.
WONDERCON
Speaking of conventions, Legion M will have its own panel at WonderCon2018! Come join us in Anaheim on Friday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. PT when Paul, Jeff, David, and Terri will talk about Legion M and its projects. A few surprises will be shared, too! The following day, Dean Devlin and Electric Entertainment will host a Bad Samaritan panel. WonderCon will be a can’t-miss event for anyone looking to support Legion M and Bad Samaritan in Southern California!
SXSW
If you can’t wait for WonderCon, Legion M’s presence will be felt this weekend at one of the hottest film festivals on the planet—Austin’s South by Southwest (SXSW). Legion M-executive produced The Field Guide To Evil (FGTE) makes its worldwide premiere this Sunday, March 11 at 11:55 p.m. Central Time!
As a reminder, FGTE is a celebration of dark folklore and mythology from around the world, an anthology of stories from eight new directorial voices representing eight different countries, including India, Norway, the United States and others. The film explores the lore, myths and folktales that have mesmerized and frightened cultures throughout history. To say FGTE is awesome is an understatement and we’re so proud to have it debut at SXSW.
We hope to see Legion M members in Austin to celebrate The Field Guide To Evil. On Saturday, March 10 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. CT, we will be hosting a pre-screening BBQ and mini golf meet-up starting at Austin’s famous Terry Black’s Barbecue. Then on Sunday morning, March 11, join us for brunch at Arturo’s Underground Café from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. CT. We’ll be sharing further details soon, including a special Facebook Live from Austin, so check out the FGTE screening schedule and sign up if you plan to join us at SXSW 2018!
