Legion M Investor News Update April 2018

Spring has definitely sprung, and we’re feeling warm vibes across the Legion!  March was an incredibly busy and exciting month and there’s no slowing down in April, so let’s go!

BAD SAMARITAN

Legion M is full steam ahead on ensuring Bad Samaritan is a big success when the David Tennant psychological thriller debuts in theaters nationwide May 4.  We’ve formed a strong partnership with the film’s director-producer Dean Devlin (Independence Day, Stargate, Godzilla, The Patriot, “Leverage,” “The Librarians”) and his production and distribution company Electric Entertainment, and we’re gearing up to ensure the Legion has plenty of opportunities to support YOUR movie when it opens next month!

Want to get involved in supporting Bad Samaritan and have a ton of fun doing it?  Last year we held over 40 successful meetups for our first feature film, Colossal, and we’re doubling down in 2018 with new technology, infrastructure, and a much bigger Legion to make Bad Samaritan meetups even bigger and better!

Hundreds of Legion M members from across the country have already volunteered to organize Bad Samaritan meetups with thousands more planning to attend with family and friends opening weekend.  Not only will meetups be a great way to support the film and hang with other Legion M members, but attendees will also receive free Bad Samaritan gift bags!  Want to organize your own meetup or see where there is one near you?  Sign up here to get on the list for Bad Samaritan opening weekend meetups and to learn about other pre-screening opportunities as they come up.

For Bay Area Legion M members, come out to Silicon Valley Comic Con on Saturday, April 7 for a very special panel with Dean Devlin, Paul Scanlan and Jeff Annison taking an inside look at Bad Samaritan plus a candid discussion about the evolution of the studio system, and how the future of Hollywood is FANS.  The panel will run from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

After the panel, the Bad Samaritan fun continues when Dean joins the Celebrity Row Signing area at 6:00 p.m. PT.  Then, a special Bad Samaritan screening will commence at 8:00 p.m. PT at the Towne 3 Cinemas at 1433 The Alameda in San Jose, CA!  Following the screening, Dean and Legion M will host an exclusive Q&A for all attendees.  Be sure to check out all things Bad Samaritan this Saturday in San Jose!

There will be more convention stops for Bad Samaritan and Legion M later in April, including at Portland Wizard World (April 13-15) and StarFest Denver (April 20-22).  Wizard World Portland will feature a Bad Samaritan sneak peek on Saturday, April 14 at 1:30 p.m. PT and a special Legion M panel featuring Paul Scanlan, Terri Lubaroff and David Baxter taking place on Saturday, April 14 at 4:30 p.m. PT!  More details about StarFest Denver will be coming soon.

Bad Samaritan is Legion M’s biggest movie yet, and we’re looking forward to the Legion banding together to ensure the film has a big opening weekend which will help ensure future opportunities to invest in high-profile films.

WONDERCON

Last month, Legion M made its inaugural appearance at WonderCon in Anaheim, CA and it was a blast!  We kicked off the weekend hosting our very own panel with a special guest appearance by Bad Samaritan’s director-producer Dean Devlin.  Before Dean revealed a super fun WonderCon surprise, Legion M’s Paul Scanlan, Terri Lubaroff and David Baxter introduced three exciting brand-new projects, revealing details and the creators for the very first time.  This was a big moment for Legion M as it marks a giant step forward in the company’s original development slate!  The creators introduced their projects and shared the following details:

"Airship Cowboys" by Adam Beason and Jed Rigney (Half-hour animated comedy series):Archer meets Blazing Saddles. The incredible and bizarre – and possibly true – adventures of a 19th century aircraft and its misfit crew as they travel the United Sta…

Imagine a world where Romeo and Juliet didn’t die, and the Montagues and Capulets are the most dangerous of in-laws. Is Philadelphia really the city of brotherly love?

We couldn’t be happier for our new creative partners!  Pre-production assets for "Airship Cowboys" and "Evermor" were revealed during the Legion M panel and were covered on the pop culture website Bleeding Cool!  More details, including stories about how Legion M met the projects’ creators—all of whom are now proud Legion M members—will be coming soon!

After the project details were announced, Dean stepped up to the panel and shared his excitement in partnering with Legion M on Bad Samaritan.  He then introduced an awesome new video of the film’s star David Tennant reacting to his fans reacting to the official Bad Samaritan trailer!  You can check out the hilarious video, which has already garnered nearly 1 million views on YouTube, here.

After the panel, Legion M members swarmed to the Hilton Hotel lounge for a fun meetup, where members and Electric Entertainment staff mixed and mingled into the late night.  The following day, Dean hosted a Bad Samaritan panel, which also included the film’s writer Brandon Boyce and its stars Carlito Olivero, Kerry Condon and Jacqueline Byers.  We were so pumped seeing the creators and actors together in one room discussing the film, and from the enthusiasm felt in the room, Bad Samaritan has the potential to be something very special when it bows in theaters May 4!

Paul also spoke with press while at WonderCon, spreading the word about all the exciting new projects and partnerships Legion M is involved in.  Click here to watch Paul’s on-site interview with Paul Amadeus Lane of ABC News Radio KMET-AM.

SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST

Legion M kicked off March by keeping Austin weird at the world-renowned South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival.  Like Sundance and WonderCon, this was Legion M’s first SXSW appearance and it certainly won’t be our last.  Our executive produced The Field Guide To Evil (FGTE) made its worldwide premiere at the festival and we couldn’t be prouder!

Produced with our partners Ant Timpson and Tim League (The ABCs of Death), FGTE is a celebration of dark folklore and mythology from around the world, an anthology of stories from eight new directorial voices representing eight different countries, including India, Norway, the United States and others.  The film explores the lore, myths and folktales that have mesmerized and frightened cultures throughout history.  Check out this cool exclusive clip that ran recently in Entertainment Weekly!

Terry Lubaroff vs BBQ

The Field Guide To Evil, like Legion M, was equity crowdfunded and is another perfect example of the power fans wield when banding together!  Movie magic was made and our very own Legion M production logo appeared before the film, sending chills through many of us in the SXSW crowd.

Legion M’s first time at SXSW wouldn’t have been complete without the Legion meeting up for some Texas-sized fun!  Between an amazing BBQ lunch, various industry meetings, parties and events, and many memories made between members, Legion M was caught up in a whirlwind of activity that won’t soon be forgotten.  To get Terri Lubaroff’s take on Legion M’s time in Austin, check out her SXSW blog post here!
