Legion M is heating up Silicon Valley Comic-Con!

 

With Three Star-Studded Panels Including for the Upcoming Documentary “Memory: The Origins of Alien,” a Dungeons & Dragons  Celebration—“Growing Up Gygax”—and a Special Deep-Dive into the Fan-Owned Entertainment Company

Legion M returns to Silicon Valley Comic Con (SVCC) THIS WEEKEND to host three fascinating panels and celebrate the power of fandom at the San Jose Convention Center. “Fans Celebrating 40 Years of Alien” will take an in-depth look at Legion M’s feature-length documentary “Memory: The Origins of Alien. The film’s director Alexandre O. Philippe (“78/52,” “The People vs. George Lucas,” “Doc of the Dead”) and Legion M will be joined by special guest, Tim Boxell, whose comic book “Defiled” helped inspire the Chestburster from “Alien.” Legion M is also teaming up with Luke Gygax, son of Dungeons & Dragons co-creator Gary Gygax, for “Growing Up Gygax, an intimate look at the origins and impact of the world-famous role-playing game. Finally, Legion M will host its own panel “Legion M: Fans Unite to Take Over Hollywood. Company executives will share how SVCC attendees can join the world’s first fan-owned entertainment company that is revolutionizing Hollywood and beyond, and how they can get involved in supporting cool projects like the upcoming Kevin Smith film “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. This is Legion M’s third consecutive year at Silicon Valley Comic-Con, and marks the anniversary of the first Con the company attended. SVCC attendees are welcome to stop by the Legion M booth and check out the company’s beloved company Cadillac, Marilyn, which will both be located in the San Jose Convention Center main hall. Legion M: Fans Unite to Take Over Hollywood – 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 17 (Room 230A)

Legion M cofounders Paul Scanlan and Jeff Annison, along with vice president of development David Baxter and special guests, will reveal how Legion M is involved with films like the upcoming Kevin Smith “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, along with “Colossal, “Mandy, “Tolkien, and “Memory: The Origins of Alien. Legion M has made it possible for anyone to become a fan-owner. Legion M and “Memory: The Origins of Alien” director Alexandre O. Philippe (“78/52,” “The People vs. George Lucas,” “Doc of the Dead”) will take a deep dive into the origins of “Alien” and its fandom while celebrating the classic horror/Sci-Fi film. The panelists will discuss Philippe’s “Memory: The Origins of Alien, which debuts this October, and will show special clips from the documentary. Special guest, Tim Boxell, will discuss how his comic book “Defiled” helped inspire the famous Chestburster from “Alien.” Legion M acquired “Memory: The Origins of Alien” earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival using Legion M’s innovative Film Scout platform.

“Growing Up Gygax” – 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Sunday, August 18 (Room LL21AB)

Dungeons & Dragons, the original RPG is more popular now than it has ever been thanks to a streamlined gaming system, pop culture shout outs from Stranger Things, and the popularity of streaming shows like Critical Role.Luke Gygax, son of Dungeons & Dragons co-creator Gary Gygax, joins panel moderator David Baxter, Legion M’s vice president of development, for “Growing Up Gygax, an intimate look at the origins of the game from someone who literally grew up as the game was born and saw the rise, fall, and rise again of one of the most influential table top games of all time. Sunday afternoon, from 1:30-3:00 p.m., Luke Gygax will run his father’s toughest dungeon: The Tomb of Horrors in Room 211.
