Comic fans will have the chance to honor the life of Stan Lee at a special tribute event set for Jan. 30 in Hollywood.
Lee’s POW! Entertainment on Wednesday announced that filmmaker and longtime friend Kevin Smith will host “Excelsior! Smith will moderate discussions with special guests Mark Hamill, Wu Tang Clan rapper RZA, Vincent D’Onofrio, “Batman” producer Michael Uslan, “Deadpool” co-creator Rob Liefeld and “X-Men” and “Transformers” producer Tom DeSanto remembering the life of the late Marvel Comics legend.
“Excelsior!” will also feature an art exhibit celebrating Lee’s legacy by famed pop-culture artist Rob Prior, select costumes and props from Lee’s many movie cameos and creations, a musical performance and a special moment of remembrance centered around Lee’s hand and foot imprint on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The evening will be rounded off with video tributes and live performances of Stan’s favorite music and poetry.
Tickets are available via Legion M starting at 5 p.m. PT with two packages available for fans starting at $150 and ranging to $200. Legion M is producing the event along with Agents of Mayhem and is working in partnership with Lee’s POW! Entertainment.
All proceeds are being donated to The Hero Initiative, a federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated to helping comic book creators in need. Hero creates a financial safety net for creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work.
