LEGION M MERCHANDISING MANIFESTO
Legion M’s merchandizing strategy is driven by three key goals:
Create great products
Foster and Promote the Legion Community and Brand
LEGION M COMPANY STORE
There are a couple ways we intend to achieve these goals. The first is by creating Official Legion M Gear to be sold in the Legion M Company Store. Official Legion M Gear is sourced directly by Legion M, so we can stand behind the quality and offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. We can buy in large quantities and pass the savings along to our investors and members. Best of all, every penny in profit goes directly back to the Legion, making Official Legion M Gear one of the best ways to support the company.
Legion M is proud to offer officially licensed merchandise for many of our projects. Not only does this allow us to be involved in the creative process behind the merch items and designs for our projects, but it also helps market the films and shows to anyone who sees our members and investors wearing the items! Some of our biggest sellers are the items in our Official Mandy Merch store, as many of the items represent screen-accurate replicas of the wardrobe in the film!
While we love Official Legion M gear, we realize there is only so much we can do by ourselves. In addition to creating our own gear, we want to empower our community to create Legion M merchandise of their own. We believe that empowering and incentivizing the community to create and sell merchandise of their own (within mutually agreed guidelines), we’ll benefit from the energy and creativity of the Legion and see amazing products we never would have imagined. We need to take the necessary steps to protect our brand, trademark, and business, but we feel the best way to spread the Legion M message far and wide is to let people make it their own.
If you’d like to use the Legion M logo, brand, images, etc. for non-commercial purposes (i.e. to create fan-art, Cosplay, personal t-shirts, etc), you are welcome to. In fact, we encourage it! All we ask is that you don’t use us for evil, and that you don’t exploit us for commercial gain. OFFICIAL LEGION M SHIRTS
Our first line of products will be t-shirts. We like shirts because they are fun, everybody needs them, and they are great way to drive awareness as we march towards 1MM shareholders.
We see t-shirts as not just as clothing, but also as art and a means of self-expression. We’re going to start with some simple designs featuring the Legion M logo, but plan to quickly evolve into more general pieces representing pop and nerd culture. Our goal isn’t simply to sell shirts to our members—we want to develop a line of shirts that people stand in line for at Comic Con.
Even better, we want to get YOU in on the action. We see shirts as a great way to test our theories and build out the tools, processes and infrastructure that allows us to leverage our community. We want to give you a voice in what we make and then show you how it’s made. After all it takes YEARS to produce a movie, but only a few weeks to produce a t-shirt. We figure this is a great way to build, experiment and learn how to get the most out of our Legion of shareholders.
As we mentioned above, we believe the best way to meet our goals is to empower the creative community. As entrepreneurs and innovators, we respect those who create and take risks. You are the ones we want on our team, and so we’re building an ecosystem that allows you to flourish.
If you’ve got an idea for an amazing piece of legion M merch that doesn’t exist, we want you to make it. If you find a need isn’t being met, we want you to meet it! And we’re happy to grant you a license as long as you share some of the profits back with the Legion and agree to a few simple terms and conditions. We’ll even help you promote your products—either by purchasing them directly for the Legion M company store, or by including you in our list of licensed Legion M projects and promoting them in our newsletters, forums, and other channels.
