My Dead Friend Zoe - Second Disbursement and Exciting Recognition

Exciting news for direct investors of MY DEAD FRIEND ZOE

We’re pleased to share that the next CAMA Statement and disbursement for MY DEAD FRIEND ZOE was processed and has most likely landed in your Wefunder account as of yesterday. If you don’t see it reflected yet, it should arrive today. If it doesn’t, please let us know right away so we can help resolve any issues.

This round includes the final portion of the Universal minimum guarantee, along with a small initial payment from the U.S. theatrical release. We’re expecting more meaningful revenue from the domestic release in upcoming statements, first from our 10% gross corridor, and later from our share of backend once P&A is recouped. We’re staying on top of Briarcliff to ensure timely reporting, accurate payments, and transparency (which is not always easy in this business).

We also wanted to share some exciting news on the recognition front: if you haven’t seen it yet, our little independent baby was recently named one of Variety’s Top 10 Films of 2024 (so far). It’s hard to overstate how meaningful and validating this is. Being listed alongside some of the year’s biggest and most acclaimed films is a huge testament to what we’ve all accomplished together.

In addition, the film was recently nominated for the Astra Award for Best Indie Film, and both audience and critic scores remain near-perfect at 95%. Based on the momentum we’re seeing and signals from the industry, we’ve already reached out to Briarcliff to explore the possibility of a genuine awards effort later this year. To set expectations: it's probably a longshot, but worth exploring.

BTW, if you're looking for ways to put your funds back to work with Legion M, here are a couple of current and upcoming opportunities:

  • FADE TO BLACK – a nearly completed feature film and our latest equity investment opportunity, with strong potential and growing momentum.

  • P&A Fund (coming soon) – designed to support our expanding distribution slate. This type of investment typically carries less short-term risk than film equity, with lower upside but the potential for steady returns and long-term annuity-style income. Stay tuned on this one!

From all of us at Legion M, thank you. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved with this film—and it wouldn’t have been possible without your support. We’ll have more updates to share in the coming months, including more distribution statements.

Onward and Upward!
