How to use the Meetup Maker Tool

 

Legion M’s Meetup Maker tool makes it easier than ever to host a meetup!

If you'd like to organize a meetup, simply go to the Organize a Meetup tab of our MEETUP MAKER tool. If you've never used it before, you'll need to create an account.  Submit the form, then we'll review your proposal to make sure it doesn't conflict with any other meetups and push it live! After that, you can use the My Meetups tab to view your meetup, along with the contact information for all of your attendees. Easy peasy!

When filling out your meetup request, you may find the following notes helpful:

LOCATION

For latest information on theaters, please check the forums. Note that in some case we may not know final theaters until just before the movie is released. In general, the larger cineplexes with more screens will be more likely to have the film. We'll keep you up to date as we get more information about theaters, but in the absence of a confirmed theater, just tell us the general area (i.e. city/state/zip) where you'd like to have your meetup. 

DATE/TIME

Choose either the opening night or opening weekend. In general, the EARLIER you can have your screening the better (i.e. the first or second days are better than the third or fourth).  That said, pick a time that is convenient for you when you think you can get the best turnout. Also, if you are expecting a large group, it's generally best to avoid the prime showings (i.e. evening showings on Fridays and Saturdays), as we don't want to sell out the theater and make them turn people away. 

MEETUP PLAN 

The general structure of a meetup is listed below.

  • The organizer gets there early, to meet out and chat with everyone before the show. Sometimes we even provide games and activities for the participants do before or after the film.

  • Everybody watches the movie together.

  • After the show, everybody gathers for a group photo (this is a great time to pass out any free goodies) and to chat for a bit

  • Those that are interested go out to grab coffee/drinks/ice-cream/meal/etc. This is optional--not everybody will be able to stick around, but a lot of the fun of the meetups is the chance to meet and hang out other Legion M'ers and other like-minded people. We recommend picking a place that is close, casual, inexpensive, and friendly. The best locations are grab-your-own type of places like a local bar, coffee shop, Panera, ice cream parlor, etc. Everyone picks up their own tab--you aren't expected to pay for anything other than your own bill!
